I first joined MSEL as a master’s student and am currently working as a research assistant. My primary focus is on developing practical guidelines for end users to implement effective rubble stabilisation interventions that aid in the restoration of the Great Barrier Reef. I recently obtained my Master of Conservation Science degree from the University of Queensland (UQ). For my thesis, I worked under the supervision of Prof. Peter Mumby and conducted research on mapping and modelling the risk of rubble accumulation across the Great Barrier Reef. I am passionate about utilizing spatial tools to address complex ecological challenges associated with coral reef ecosystems while also striving to improve science communication by making technical information more accessible.
Prior to my studies at UQ, I completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at the Hong Kong University of Science Technology. While I was an undergraduate student, I worked multiple part-time positions in NGOs focused on marine and coastal conservation. My work as an interpretive guide for ecotours in RAMSAR wetlands at WWF Hong Kong has sparked my interest in environmental education and science communication. I also worked as a conservation assistant for the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong, assisting with cetacean stranding cases and awareness programs.
