Taison Chang Ka Tai

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2010 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. After graduated, I have worked as a research associate to monitor cetaceans in Hong Kong for over 6 years. At the same time, I have also become one of the committee members of Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society, a non-profit organisation for marine mammal conservation. Since 2017, I have been chairing the organisation, acting as the media spokesperson and also responsible for managing both internal and external affairs of the group.

One of my aspirations is to return to an academic institution in pursuit of professional knowledge in the conservation and environmental perspectives. I feel very grateful for the opportunity to study for a Master of Conservation Science at the University of Queensland starting from 2019. I have been treasuring all the inspirations and knowledge that I have encountered and learned. I am honoured to have Prof. Peter Mumby as my supervisor for the research project. My project will mainly focus on how the spatial and temporal trends of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (Sousa chinensis) change with the anthropogenic impacts in Hong Kong waters.

The supportive, welcoming and professional environment of MSEL has empowered me to further advance in the conservation field. I am eager to contribute to the scientific and conservation area. I look forward to equipping myself with all the different conservation research skills and knowledge from MSEL so that I could gear up myself for upcoming challenges.
