As with other Millennials, my childhood was outlined by a dual sense of ecological angst and a burning desire to affect change in the world. This eventually led me studying my undergraduate degree in environmental science at Trinity College Dublin. It also led me spending many years in environmental activism and advocacy. This has included collaborative efforts with international organisations, such as with 350.org, Friends of the Earth, and the Global Wallace Fund, working on fossil fuel divestment and mobilising people around climate change.
More recently I have focused on conservation science, looking at trade-offs and co-benefits, particularly in the marine environment. I am currently doing a Masters of Conservation Science at UQ, researching how connectivity can alter fishery and conservation benefits associated with marine protected areas in the Caribbean.
